Before & After
This golf-course home near The Woodlands tried solar screens on every window to try and cut the energy use.
By using Custom Windows vinyl windows, the energy efficiency was improved and the house has an open and inviting look.
With so many windows and little shade, the old single pane windows allowed the home to lose energy, even with solar screens.
As with the front of the home, the rear of the home is more open and the view to the golf course is dramatic without losing light from solar screens.
A closer look at the rear windows on the home.
And the look of the home after using Custom Windows to improve the view while dramatically increasing energy efficiency.
Looking at the other windows on the rear, remember, too, that any dust that filters through the solar screens creates hard to clean windows.
Not only are the new windows energy efficient and open, by using NEAT® on the window as well, these Custom Windows will stay far cleaner, far longer!
Goal: Improve energy efficiency and create larger views of Lake Conroe.
Original windows were divided, creating obstructions in the view.
Custom oversized windows created a stunning look yet were dramatically more energy efficient as well.
The six windows from the two story living room were each over 45 square feet of glass and weighed almost 300 pounds each.
The result – Dramatic beauty with excellent energy efficiency.
And views of Lake Conroe from inside are both spectacular and expansive.
Sometimes the divided lites of older windows simply create a busy look.
Using picture windows without divided lites created a more open view to the entertaining area outside!
Starting with a traditional ranch-style home in the Spring Branch area . . .
Just changing the windows from the narrow single pane original windows creates an instant update in energy efficiency and a more modern feel to the home.
And adding cedar siding goes a step further in updating the home and providing a warmer style while maintaining the core look of the ranch home.
A closer look at the older single pane windows . . .
And a close look at the Custom Windows’ bronze aluminum windows with Prarie pattern divided lites.
Another close look at the older windows and the heaviness of the old frame . . .
And the modern, clean look and the openness of the new windows!
Starting with a traditional two story home, the challenge was the size of the large windows on front, reducing energy loss through the windows and modernizing the home.
By eliminating the divided lites, the home takes on a more dramatic appearance while being far more energy efficient.
The additional challenge was that the focus windows on the front of the home were almost 14 feet tall.
But Custom Windows created a solution with the homeowners which maintained the expansive style while eliminating the leaks that are common sources of energy loss from single pane windows.
Projects
When other window companies couldn’t, Custom Windows created all the windows for this Houston home, including the small quarter eyebrows above the entry.
This Tomball-area home retains the colonial lite appearance and our narrow profile vinyl frame creates a clean look with maximum glass area.
A traditional River Oaks house, upgraded with high efficiency Thermal Break aluminum windows and large Italian lites to create a stunning modern home.
Working with a custom home builder, we created a unique wall of windows using bronze aluminum frames and Prairie patterned divided lites.
Few companies could tackle a custom window that is 13 feet tall! Using a special ‘hurricane mull’ to join the two windows, Custom Windows created a dramatic focal point for this Champions Forrest home.
While most companies can build the arched windows, only Custom Windows could work with the architect to create the complex entryway window which features a unique double-ellipse bell shaped top.
By using a Prairie lite pattern with SDL bars, this home in the Spring area balances the traditional with the dramatic.
Custom Windows can also work with your builder to create commercial glass walls for stunning views inside and out as we did for this Galleria home.
While retaining the style of colonial lites, simply using the larger Italian lite pattern on the entryway arch window creates a stunning presence to this home near Cinco Ranch and Katy.
Decorative Glass
You can obscure the view while creating a beautiful pattern using Taffeta glass. While we have used this often in bathrooms, it also makes a wonderful entryway or decorative arch window.
With Rain, you maintain privacy while creating a more elegant appearance inside and out.
Using Flemish glass in a bathroom arch window creates beauty and uniqueness few other homes will have.
Flemish glass creates dramatic entryway windows which allow light but improves your home’s privacy.
Divided Lites
The colonial lite pattern using the standard trim bar creates a clean appearance.
The colonial lite pattern also works well with geometrically shaped windows.
Seamless integration of the colonial lite pattern across multiple windows.
We can create colonial lite patterns with custom ellipse shapes for you.
Using a larger ‘Italian’ lite pattern results in a dramatic entryway. This can be done with the standard trim bar or with the Contoured trim bar as it is here.
The Contoured trim bar has a more traditional look and works well in complex window configurations.
The Prairie Lite design creates a unique appearance for your home and the Contoured trim bar adds dimension as well.
As with the standard trim bar, we can bend custom shapes using the contoured trim as well.
A full arch window using the contoured trim bar creates an impressive appearance.
For the most traditional look, we use the SDL trim on the outside glass and the contoured trim between the glass. Modern energy efficiency combined with very traditional appearance.
The SDL also can be used with other lite patterns, such as the Prairie pattern here.
Custom Shapes
Even a simple half circle can be made spectacular by using the right glass and also with are narrow profile vinyl frame creating the perfect fit.
When you need to join a half circle window to a rectangular window, the narrow profile vinyl also maintains maximum glass area.
We also create continuous jambs circle top picture windows for a clean, bold appearance. (Continuous Jamb – note that this is all one window, not a stacked window with thick frames.)
And we can create continuous jamb circle-top windows that open, too.
And we also create continuous jamb circle-top windows for a dramatic entryway.
Continuous jamb circle tops that are 6 feet wide and 13 feet tall? Yes, Custom Windows can!
Triangles, Trapezoids and Parallelograms – you can test Custom Windows with almost any design you have in mind.
Again, using our narrow profile frame creates an eyebrow window with a perfect fit and allows the glass, not the frame, be the primary feature in this Jersey Village area home.
Even complex window groups including quarter-eyebrows can be crafted with perfect alignment of the divided lites as well.
The narrow profile frame allowed Custom Windows to build windows for this entryway, including the small quarter-eyebrows that other window companies simply could not.
While most window companies can fabricate simple arch windows, few can build a complex shape such as this Ellipse window which requires hand craftsmanship to create the perfect fit.
Custom Windows worked with the architect to create this complex entryway window which features a unique double-ellipse bell shaped top, the feature window for this custom home.
Combining hand crafted ellipse windows with a commercial wall of glass, Custom Widows can work with your architect and builder to create the stunning look that you envision.
We would love the opportunity to work on a custom window solution for you!
