Noise Control
If the busy outside world intrudes into your home because of the sound of busses, a nearby freeway or kids playing in the street, there are a number of ways that Custom Windows can work with you to make things more peaceful at home! Here are some descriptions of some alternatives, but call us to discuss your specific situation!
Replacement Window, Storm Window or Both? A modern dual pane window measurably reduces the sound that intrudes into your home, so changing your windows from older single pane windows to new insulated windows not only improves your energy efficiency but it also helps make your home quieter. Adding a storm window to your existing single pane windows also does a great job of reducing noise even more! We even can build a ‘piggyback’ window that incorporates a storm window mounted to a new dual pane window to create a very quiet package for you.
Glass, however, can also make a difference! While a dual pane replacement window will automatically be quieter than your old single pane windows, we can build windows with a special STC333 glass package that reduces sound further. Or you can choose to use laminated glass since it is measurably more effective in reducing low sounds like the rumbling of busses than an equal thickness of glass.
So if noise is a problem, Custom Windows can work with you on the best combination of window type and glass package to give you maximum relief from outside sounds. Give us a call!
We would love the opportunity to work on a custom window solution for you!
